2019 SBCL Scholarships

By Mike Maloney

The class of 2019 had seven applicants for our Civic League scholarships. We are blessed to have so many great young people in our midst.

Our $2,500 winner is Will Butler of Bluebill Drive. Will graduated from Kellam High School and is attending the University of Virginia in the fall. He is a lifeguard here in Sandbridge again this summer. Will is a talented musician, and you can see him perform outside at The Sugar Shack.

Jake Low is our $1,500 winner. He lives on S. Sandfiddler Road and graduated from Ocean Lakes High School. He will be attending the University of Chicago. Jake will be joining his older brother there and play football. He has worked in summer financial internships and will head to U of C to prepare for the season.

Our $1,000 winner is Grady Bryant of S. Sandpiper Road. Grady graduated from Kellam High School and will attend Tidewater Community College before entering the Navy with an eye towards BUD/S training. He is also a Sandbridge lifeguard.

The Sandbridge Beach Business Association sponsors a $500 scholarship each year as well. This year’s recipient is Corinna Joy Ensley of Back Bay Crescent. She graduated from Kellam High School and will attend James Madison University.

We are all in very good hands with these Sandbridgers going off to lead the world!
